As 2016 comes to an end, we take time to reflect on our work this year. It’s been an exciting and challenging year for GeoNexus. We launched a new website, attended productive conferences, formed new partnerships, launched innovative products, added robust functionality enhancements to existing products, and continued to grow our GeoWorx® user community.
In January we released GeoWorx Office, a widget that extends your ArcGIS Online (AGOL) map viewer by providing work and asset management functionality directly from your map. We also enhanced our GeoWorx Sync product to allow synchronization between asset management systems and AGOL/ArcGIS Server. Finally, we enhanced our GeoWorx Mobile product to include an embedded Esri map. All in an effort to meet customers’ needs and further align with our geospatial partner, Esri®.
We finalized a distributorship agreement with Ericsson® which allows them to resell GeoWorx software in combination with their Ericsson Network Engineer solution to telecommunication companies worldwide. This new relationship extends our reach into the telecommunication market, a new vertical for us, on a global scale.
Our user community grew by nine customers this year, bringing us just shy of our best year in 2014 when we gained ten new customers. Our presence increased both locally and globally. Just a short drive from our headquarters in Ann Arbor, we started work at Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD). DWSD needed Sync to aide in fire hydrant inspection efforts. Sync ensures that data collected during fire hydrant inspections in GIS aligns with the hydrant asset status in their asset management system. On a more global scale, we started an integration project with a large Utility in the Middle East who was struggling with synchronization between Maximo, GIS, and ArcFM.
To stay connected with our growing user community, we began a monthly user group call. This is a forum to keep our users up-to-date with functionality enhancements as well as solicit feedback for our product roadmap.
As we reflect on the past year, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the challenges we encountered. Despite a growing customer base, we did not experience the double digit revenue growth that we’ve enjoyed yearly since our inception in 2009. This slowdown was largely due to the decrease in new software implementations from core EAM vendors we support. I’m happy to say in the face of these challenges our team banded together, innovated, and strengthened internal business processes.
With a strong strategic plan in place and a few big announcements on the horizon, we look forward to 2017. Thank you for being part of our journey this year. We wish you a joyful and prosperous New Year.
